Hood Cleaning Technician

Job Description

Silver Lining Hood Cleaners, Inc. of Portland, OR is looking to hire a Hood Cleaning Technician. There are part-time and full-time positions available, starting at $16–$18 per hour, D.O.E. No experience necessary, training will be provided. However, previous mechanical, electrical, HVAC, pressure washing, janitorial cleaning, or kitchen exhaust hood cleaning experience is a plus. This is primarily night work on Sunday through Thursday evenings with hours that vary, usually between 9:00p - 5:00a, when commercial kitchens are slow or closed.

Technician must:

  • Have a valid Driver's License with a minimum of 3 years driving experience
  • Have own personal transportation to and from our central office in SE Portland
  • Have a good driving record that passes our insurance company’s requirements
  • Have a working cell phone and respond promptly to all calls from management
  • Be clean-cut with a professional appearance
  • Be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check
  • Be dependable; able to show up on time, read and follow instructions
  • Be physically fit; able to climb ladders, able to lift and carry 75 lbs. at times
  • Have excellent attention to detail, and be able to work quickly and efficiently
  • Be able to work flexible hours; nights, early mornings, and some weekends
  • Be able to work safely in both hot, cold, and/or inclement weather
  • Be able to complete work projects from start to finish with limited supervision
  • Be fluent in English; able to communicate well with customers and other team members
  • Be able to learn new procedures quickly to assist with the exhaust cleaning process

Job duties include:

  • The set-up and take-down of equipment including: hanging plastic sheeting, mixing chemicals, setting up ladders, wet/dry vacuums, pre-sprayers, garden hoses, and high-pressure hoses
  • Pre-scraping greasy buildup from affected areas of kitchen exhaust systems
  • Pressure washing the interior of kitchen exhaust systems (fans, ducts, and hoods)
  • Final clean-up in kitchens by wiping down the hoods, mopping up the floors, etc.
  • Digital photography of all work performed at each job
  • Independent completion of work projects with limited supervision
  • Reporting mechanical deficiencies of customer and/or company equipment to management
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of company tools, equipment, and vehicles each night
